Former Lagos State Governor and former Works Minister Babatunde Fashola SAN has been named keynote speaker at the 2026 Annual Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association Ikeja Branch, where governance reform, institutional accountability, and economic policy will form the core of a week-long program scheduled from June 19 to June 25 at the Lagos Marriott Hotel.
Law Week Planning Committee Chairman Chukwudi Enebeli said Fashola would address the theme of law, leadership, and governance beyond electoral politics, drawing on his experience across state and federal executive roles to examine governance models built on performance, institutional continuity, and development outcomes that outlasted election cycles.
The Business Forum component, themed Accelerating the Future of the Nigerian Economy, would bring together policymakers, economists, and business leaders to examine the country’s economic outlook and investment opportunities, with Trade Minister Jumoke Oduwole among the confirmed speakers. A Young Lawyers’ Session titled The Grind Before the Glory would mentor emerging practitioners on professional ethics, career development, and the evolving demands of legal practice.
NBA Ikeja Branch Chairman Adeniyi Quadri said the Law Week was a vital platform for national discourse at a time when calls for stronger institutions, greater transparency, and improved governance were intensifying, and that the event would produce recommendations aimed at strengthening institutional performance and deepening collaboration between the legal profession, government, and civil society.
