Military Pension Board Warns Retirees Against Sharing BVN and Bank Details with Fraudsters

The Military Pension Board has issued a fraud alert warning military pensioners, retirees, and next of kin against disclosing sensitive personal or financial information to individuals or groups contacting them under the pretexts of facilitating loans, processing pension benefits, or providing other financial services.

Public Relations Officer Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed said the board had received reports of unscrupulous individuals requesting information including Bank Verification Numbers, National Identification Numbers, bank account details, ATM card details, and other confidential data from pensioners.

He said the board did not engage third parties to collect pensioners’ personal or banking information for the purpose of processing loans, pension payments, gratuities, or any other benefits, and that any request for such information from unofficial sources should be treated with caution and reported to the appropriate authorities.

The board encouraged pensioners and next of kin to conduct all official pension-related business only through recognized Military Pension Board channels and designated contact lines, and said it would continue to work with relevant agencies to protect retirees from fraudulent activities.
