FG Reaffirms Commitment to Agge Deep Sea Port as Gateway to Niger Delta and Blue Economy Growth

The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering the Agge Deep Sea Port project in Bayelsa State, describing it as a strategic maritime infrastructure initiative that will drive economic growth, create thousands of jobs, ease congestion at existing ports, and anchor Nigeria’s ambitions in the blue economy sector.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola said the project was a key priority aligned with the broader vision of the Tinubu administration to revitalise the economy through transformative infrastructure that promoted trade, industrialisation, and sustainable development. He said the ministry was working closely with the Bayelsa State Government and relevant stakeholders to deliver the project within the shortest possible time.

He said upon completion, the port would serve as a major maritime gateway in the South-South region, facilitating international trade while generating significant economic activity across the country. He also highlighted opportunities the port would unlock in logistics, fisheries, shipbuilding, maritime services, and tourism.

Oyetola commended Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri for his commitment to the project and for aligning the state’s development priorities with the federal government’s Marine and Blue Economy agenda.
