All Progressives Congress National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has pledged to personally champion the cause of women in party and government structures ahead of the 2027 general election, vowing that his voice would be raised when appointments were made and when campaign councils were constituted to ensure women were adequately represented.
Yilwatda made the commitment when he received APC National Women Leader Dr. Mary Alile Idele alongside six zonal women leaders and state women leaders from across the federation at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
He described women as the enduring pillars on whom the party’s successes had been built, saying they were present during campaigns, during elections, and in virtually every party activity. He said the APC was blessed with women of immense capacity and that gender should never be a barrier to political advancement.
He argued that the principle of federal character should extend beyond geographical considerations to include gender representation, and urged that more women should be planted in state houses of assembly, the National Assembly, and leadership positions across the country.
APC National Women Leader Dr. Idele said the visit was designed to formally introduce the 17 newly elected state women leaders who had emerged through democratic processes across the federation. She commended Yilwatda’s leadership for bringing unity, cohesion, and renewed confidence to the party.
