Chemstar Industries Nigeria Limited held its 2026 Health and Safety Week in Lagos, reaffirming its commitment to a healthy workforce and safe working environment through a program that featured health talks, medical check-ups, fire safety lectures, and practical fire drills conducted with officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Group Managing Director Adedayo Paseda, represented by the Managing Director of C-PIN Chemicals Fola Laguda, said the annual initiative was designed to instill a culture of safety consciousness among employees and encourage them to prioritize their health both at work and at home. The 2026 edition was themed “Safe and Healthy Living: A Priority for All” with a sub-theme of “Fire Safety: A Priority for All.”
General Manager Operations and Health and Safety Week Committee Chairman Cyprian Ukpai underscored the importance of routine medical examinations, noting that many workers neglected regular health checks. He said the company would continue to invest in initiatives that promoted staff health and safety.
Dr. Keziah Danjuma of the company’s Health Maintenance Organization told employees that early detection of health conditions was the most effective way of managing challenges, describing prevention as always preferable to cure.
Chief Fire Officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and Head of the Fire and Rescue Unit at the Lagos State Building Control Agency Mrs. Funmi Johnson described fire safety as a shared responsibility and advocated continuous training and refresher programs to equip workers with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to fire emergencies.
