Eid-el-Kabir: CAN Felicitates with Muslims, Urges Nigerian Leaders to Govern with Conscience

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, while urging Nigerian leaders to govern the country with conscience, compassion and a strong sense of responsibility.

In a statement issued to mark the Islamic festival, CAN President, Daniel Okoh, said Eid-el-Kabir goes beyond celebration and speaks directly to Nigeria’s current realities at a critical moment in the nation’s history.

According to him, many Nigerians are grappling with severe economic hardship, including hunger, unpaid school fees, struggling businesses and rising anxiety over the state of the country.

Okoh stressed that the spirit of sacrifice associated with Eid-el-Kabir should not remain a burden borne solely by ordinary citizens, but should also be reflected in the actions and conduct of those in leadership positions.

He called on political leaders and public office holders to demonstrate sacrifice through honesty, restraint, service, compassion and visible commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians.

The CAN president also urged citizens to embrace unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence during the festive period, while praying for peace, stability and national progress.

He wished Muslims a peaceful and rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration and encouraged Nigerians of all faiths to continue promoting love, understanding and mutual respect.
