Senator Isah Jibrin has dismissed reports claiming he had agreed not to contest the 2027 senatorial election for Kogi East Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the lawmaker described the reports as false, fabricated and politically motivated, insisting that he remains committed to seeking the mandate of the people of Kogi East in the 2027 elections.
Jibrin stated that he never withdrew from the race or authorised anyone to issue statements suggesting that he had stepped aside from the APC senatorial primaries.
“Never at any point, verbally or in writing have I informed anyone, institution, or authority that I will not return to the Senate in 2027,” he said.
The senator maintained that he remains focused and prepared to continue what he described as quality representation for the people of Kogi East.
He urged the leadership of the APC, party supporters and stakeholders across the district not to be misled by what he called propaganda and misinformation allegedly being spread by political opponents.
According to him, the individuals behind the reports were attempting to create confusion and tension within the party after allegedly failing to gain public support.
Jibrin said no amount of “fabricated stories, sponsored propaganda or forged statements” would weaken the support he enjoys among the people of the senatorial district.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, development and progress of Kogi East and called on party faithful and supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
The senator concluded by reiterating that he remains a candidate for the APC senatorial ticket in Kogi East.
