The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ended on a high note as My Father’s Shadow clinched the coveted Best Movie award at the annual ceremony celebrating excellence in African film and television.
The film also secured the Best Director award for Akinola Davies Jr, making it one of the biggest winners of the night.
In the acting categories, Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his performance in Colours of Fire, while Linda Ejiofor received the Best Lead Actress award for The Serpent’s Gift.
Ejiofor also picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in The Herd, adding to her successful outing at the awards ceremony.
Bucci Franklin won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in To Kill A Monkey, which also earned the Best Editing award.
In the technical categories, Kabelo Thathe won Best Cinematography for his work on To Kill A Monkey.
The television and digital content categories also featured strong competition, with Nigerian Idol winning Best Unscripted M-Net Original.
Digital creators Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom emerged winners of the Best Digital Content Creator category for Leave To Live.
Uche Montana was honoured with the Trailblazer Award, while veteran actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo received Industry Merit Awards in recognition of their contributions to the entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, Lisabi: A Legend Is Born won the award for Best Indigenous Language Film in West Africa.
The event celebrated outstanding achievements in film, television, documentaries, indigenous language productions, and digital entertainment across the African continent.
