Senator Bala A. Mohammed has formally aligned with the Allied People’s Movement (APM) following his attendance at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, where he also obtained nomination forms to contest for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat.
The NEC meeting, held under the leadership of the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, brought together senior party officials and stakeholders to deliberate on key national and organisational issues. The session also served as a formal introduction for the senator into the party’s leadership structure following his recent defection.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Mohammed said his move to the APM followed extensive consultations with political associates, stakeholders, and supporters across the country.
He described the current political environment as increasingly challenging, citing concerns over what he termed undemocratic practices and political intimidation that, according to him, have made meaningful participation difficult for some political actors.
The senator said the APM emerged as the most suitable platform for his political alignment, noting that the party’s principles reflect his own values, particularly in areas of good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law.
He stressed that his decision to join the party was based on conviction and a shared commitment to strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.
Senator Mohammed also disclosed that his movement into the APM includes a broad coalition of political stakeholders from Bauchi State, including serving and former public office holders. These, he said, comprise members of the National Assembly, state legislators, local government officials, commissioners, party executives, and grassroots supporters.
He assured the party leadership of his readiness to contribute resources, experience, and political support toward strengthening the party at all levels.
During the NEC meeting, Senator Mohammed formally picked up his nomination form to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial election on the platform of the APM in the upcoming polls.
