The African Democratic Congress has released a comprehensive updated schedule for its 2026 primary elections alongside revised nomination form costs, describing the changes as the outcome of extensive consultations with party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders aimed at strengthening internal democracy and broadening access to political participation.
Under the updated timetable, form sales run from May 1 to 4, 2026, with purchase and submission of completed forms from May 6 to 13, 2026. Screening of aspirants is set for May 14 and 15, with results published on May 17. Appeals will be heard on May 18 and 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants released on May 20.
Primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Senate are scheduled for May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22 and the presidential primary on May 23. A National Executive Committee meeting and Special National Convention are set for May 25 and 26 respectively.
National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed that nomination form costs have been set at N90 million for the presidential ticket, N30 million for governorship, N10 million for Senate, N5 million for the House of Representatives, and N2 million for State Houses of Assembly.
The party retained its concessionary framework, offering a 50 percent discount for youth aspirants between 18 and 35 years old and a 25 percent discount for women and persons living with disabilities.
