Nigeria Signs MoU with Airbus to Boost Aviation and Aerospace Development

The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global aircraft manufacturer Airbus, in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s aviation sector and advancing its aerospace development ambitions.

The agreement was sealed during an official visit by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France.

Described as a major milestone, the partnership is expected to support Nigeria’s efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable aviation ecosystem through infrastructure development and capacity building.

Keyamo was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Permanent Secretary Mahmud Adam Kambari; Director General of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Umar; Director of Air Traffic Management at the ministry, Ahmed Tijjani; Director of Air Safety Administration, Michael Chukwu; and Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Chris Najomo.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will collaborate on initiatives designed to accelerate growth in Nigeria’s civil aviation space. The focus areas include upgrading aviation infrastructure, enhancing technical expertise, and developing human capital to meet global industry standards.

Officials say the agreement aligns with broader government efforts to modernize the aviation sector and position Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s aerospace industry.
