The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has formally disowned a group calling itself the Arewa APC Forum, after the body issued a statement claiming to have withdrawn support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing the claim as false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to create confusion within the party.
In a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, the Kano APC said the so-called forum had no standing within the party’s recognised constitutional structure and did not represent the views or positions of APC members in the state.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party. We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State,” the statement said.
The party reaffirmed its full confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and described the administration as remaining focused on delivering good governance, economic reform, and national development. Under the leadership of Umar Doguwa, the Kano APC urged party members and the general public to disregard the statement entirely, dismissing its authors as mischief-makers seeking to generate unnecessary tension within the party.
The statement also cast doubt on the credibility of the group’s spokesperson, noting that the signatory of the purported withdrawal was faceless and held no recognised position within the party at any level in Kano State.
